Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Billy Elliot, Captain Corelli’s Mandolins, Quills, Proof) is reteaming with actress/director Maïwenn on the upcoming French drama DNA (ADN). The film is co-written and directed by the filmmaker and stars herself, alongside Fanny Ardant, Louis Garrel, Marine Vacth, Alain Françon, Caroline Chaniolleau, Dylan Robert, Henri-Noël Tabary and Omar Marwan. The movie revolves around a woman with close ties to a beloved Algerian grandfather who protected her from a toxic home life as a child. Pascal Caucheteu (Jackie, You Were Never Really Here) is producing the project for Why Not Productions. Warbeck has previously scored Maïwenn’s last two directorial efforts, Polisse and My King. DNA will premiere this September at the Deauville American Film Festival and is set to be released in French theaters this fall.
Warbeck’s other recent projects is his directorial debut The Man in the Hat (originally entitled The Thin Man), which is currently awaiting a premiere date.
