Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the drama Shirley directed by Josephine Decker and starring Elisabeth Moss, Michael Stuhlbarg, Odessa Young and Logan Lerman. The film’s original music is composed by Tamar-kali (Mudbound, The Assistant, Come Sunday, The Last Thing He Wanted, John Lewis: Good Trouble). Also opening in select theaters and on VOD is the action thriller Becky directed by Jonathan Milott and starring Lulu Wilson, Kevin James, Joel McHale, Amanda Brugel and Robert Maillet. Nima Fakhrara (The Signal, The Pyramid, Detroit: Become Human, The Girl in the Photographs) has composed the film’s original music. Varese Sarabande and Music.Film Recordings will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score next Friday, June 12 (pushed back from its original June 5 release date). Also opening on VOD today is the drama Judy & Punch written and directed by Mirrah Foulkes and starring Mia Wasikowska, Damon Herriman, Terry Norris, Gillian Jones, Tom Budge, Benedict Hardie and Lucy Velik. The film’s original music is composed by Francois Tétaz (Wolf Creek, Hesher). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows two puppeteers as they are trying to resurrect their marionette show in an an anarchic town on the brink of mob rule, premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
Another VOD release this week is the horror thriller Dreamland directed by Bruce McDonald and starring Stephen McHattie, Henry Rollins, Juliette Lewis, Lisa Houle and Tómas Lemarquis. Jonathan Goldsmith (Away from Her, Take This Waltz, Casino Jack) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Also opening in the U.S. in virtual theaters today is the Australian documentary 2040 directed by Damon Gameau who embarks on a global journey to discover what the future of the planet could look like by 2040 if we embraced the best solutions already available to us and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream.The film’s original music is composed by Bryony Marks (Berlin Syndrome, Sisters, Lambs of God, A Month of Sundays). LilliPilli IP has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year when the movie opened in Australia. Visit Amazon to stream/download the album.
