Kris Bowers (Green Book, Dear White People, When They See Us, Monsters and Men) has been tapped to score the upcoming FX limited series Mrs. America. The show is written by Dahvi Waller (Mad Men) and stars Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Sarah Paulson, Margo Martindale, Uzo Aduba, Elizabeth Banks and Tracey Ullman. The drama tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the unexpected backlash led by a conservative woman named Phyllis Schlafly. Waller and Blanchett are also producing the project with Stacey Sher (Erin Brockovich, Django Unchained), Coco Francini, Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck (Blue Valentine, Captain Marvel). Mrs. America will premiere on April 15, 2020 on FX.
As previously reported, Bowers also has Justin Simien’s feature Bad Hair (which just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival) and the drama Good Joe Bell starring Mark Wahlberg coming up. The composer also continues to score Showtime’s Black Monday, which will return for its second season on March 15 and Netflix’s Dear White People, which will come back for a fourth and final season later this year and Raising Dion, which has also been renewed for a second season.
