Dominik Scherrer is scoring the upcoming Netflix/BBC limited series The Serpent. The show is written by Richard Warlow & Toby Finlay, directed by Tom Shankland & Hans Herbots and stars Jenna Coleman, Billy Howle, Ellie Bamber, Tahar Ramin, Alice Englert, Mathilde Warnier, Gregoire Isvarine, Sahajak Boonthanakit and Fabien Frankel. The 8-part crime drama tells the story of Charles Sobhraj who was the chief suspect in the unsolved murders of up to 20 young Western travellers across India, Thailand and Nepal’s ‘Hippie Trail’ in 1975 and 1976. Warlow and Shankland are also executive producing the Mammoth Screen production with Preethi Mavahalli (The War of the Worlds, Next of Kin), Damien Timmer (Poldark, Victoria) and Lucy Richer (Top of the Lake, Collateral). Scherrer (Primeval, Requiem) has previously scored the Warlow-created series Ripper Street, as well as the Shankland-directed shows The Missing and The City and the City. The Serpent is set to premiere in the UK later this year on BBC One and in the U.S. and other markets on Netflix.
Scherrer is also expected to return the second season of BBC’s Baptiste.
