This week, Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Terminator: Dark Fate) is recording his score for the upcoming animated feature Scoob!. The film is directed by Tony Cervone and stars Kiersey Clemons, Zac Efron, Will Forte, Jason Isaacs, Ken Jeong, Tracy Morgan, Gina Rodriguez, Amanda Seyfried, Mark Wahlberg and Frank Welker. The Warner Animation Group production, which marks the first full length animated theatrical Scooby Doo movie, reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc. Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone), Pam Coats (Mulan) and Allison Abbate (Fantastic Mr. Fox, Frankenweenie) are producing the project. Scoob! is set to be released on May 15, 2020 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Visit the official movie website for updates.

Holkenborg’s other upcoming projects include Jeff Fowler’s Sonic the Hedgehog, which will be released in theaters nationwide on February 14 by Paramount Pictures.

  1. Tor says:

His Sonic score must be that damn good.

  2. Serge Dimidenko says:

This is stupid. Junkie XL is way too good of a composer to be reduced to kids animated movies. The only good this serves is him expanding his horizons. I want to see him on more blockbuster Adventure/Action films. Just my 2 cents

    • Victor Field says:

Serge Dimidenko you do know the following mong others have what you sneeringly call “kids animated movies”on their CV: Hans Zimmer, Thomas,Randy and David Newman, Alan Silvestri and Jerry Goldsmith?

  3. Lisa Martinez says:

Just got pushed to streaming services. Hoping we still get a soundtrack score like Trolls World Tour.

  4. I thought Michael Giacchino would do the score, and so did others, like John Debney and Julian Nott. I hope major Hollywood studios would stop pushing release dates for upcoming films and/or having them straight on demand and on streaming services after this.
