H. Scott Salinas (A Private War, Cartel Land, The Ballad of Lefty Brown) has composed the original music for the upcoming drama The Banker. The film is directed by George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau) and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Nicholas Hoult, Nia Long, Jessie Usher and Colm Meaney. The movie follows two businessmen who devise an audacious and risky plan to take on the racist establishment of the 1960s by helping other African Americans pursue the American dream. Nolfi co-wrote the screenplay with Niceole Levy, David Lewis Smith and Stan Younger based on a story by Smith, Younger and Brad Caleb Kane (Extinction, Warrior). Nolfi is also producing the project with Joel Viertel (Ready or Not), Brad Feinstein (American Woman), Nnamdi Asomugha, Jonathan Baker, Smith and Mackie. Salinas has previously co-scored Nolfi’s last feature, The Birth of the Dragon. The Banker will premiere next month at this year’s AFI Fest and will be released in theaters on December 6 before its debut on Apple TV+ in early 2020.
Salinas is also expected to co-score the second season of Starz’s Warrior and has also recently composed the music for the Baghdad Central, which will premiere in early 2020 in the UK on Channel 4 and in the U.S. on Hulu.
