Kris Bowers has been tapped to score the upcoming Netflix original series Raising Dion. The show developed by Carol Barbee (UnREAL) based on the comic book created by Dennis Liu and stars Alisha Wainwright, Ja’Siah Young, Michael B. Jordan, Jason Ritter and Jazmyn Simon. The drama centers on a single mom who must hide her young son’s superpowers to protect him from exploitation while investigating their origins and her husband’s death. Barbee, Liu and Jordan are also executive producing the project with Charles D. King (Mudbound, Sorry to Bother You), Kim Roth, Poppy Hanks, Kenny Goodman and Michael Green (American Gods). Ali Shaheed Muhammad & Adrian Younge (Luke Cage) were reportedly originally scoring the series. Raising Dion will premiere later this year on Netflix.

Bowers (Green Book) is currently up for an Emmy Award for his music for Netflix’s limited series When They See Us. He also recently scored the third season of Netflix’s Dear White People, which just premiered last week and also has Justin Simien’s feature Bad Hair coming up. He also recently composed the music for the video game Madden NFL 20, which was released last Friday.

Hi Kris Bowers, how are you? I just wanted to say I love the music on Raising Dion that you did and I really think you should post it on Spotify and Apple Music. I specifically sent this message because I also really would like it if you posted that song that was in that scene (where the school bell rings and Dion is at the skate park). Please let me know if you agree.
