Rob Simonsen (Love, Simon, Nerve, Foxcatcher, The Upside, (500) Days of Summer, Tully) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Way Back. The film is directed by Gavin O’Connor (Miracle, The Accountant, Warrior) and stars Ben Affleck, Janina Gavankar, Al Madrigal, Hayes MacArthur and Rachael Carpani. The movie revolves around a former basketball all-star who has lost his wife and family foundation in a struggle with addiction and attempts to regain his soul and salvation by becoming the coach of a disparate, ethnically mixed high school basketball team at his alma mater. Brad Ingelsby (Out of the Furnace, Run All Night) wrote the screenplay. O’Connor and Affleck are also producing the project with Jennifer Todd (Alice in Wonderland, Memento) and Mark Ciardi & Gordon Grey (The Rookie, McFarland, USA). The Way Back is set to be released on March 6, 2020 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
