Lesley Barber (Manchester by the Sea, You Can Count On Me, Mansfield Park, The Moth Diaries) has been hired to score the upcoming Hulu original series Four Weddings and a Funeral. The show is developed by Mindy Kaling & Matt Warburton (The Mindy Project) based on the 1994 feature of the same title and stars Zoe Boyle, Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Sophia La Porta, Harish Patel, Nikesh Patel, John Reynolds, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Brandon Mychal Smith. The comedy follows four American friends who reunite for a fabulous London wedding, but – after a bombshell at the altar throws their lives into turmoil – they must weather a tumultuous year of romance and heartbreak. Kaling & Wartburton are also executive producing the MGM Television and Universal Television production with Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill) who scripted the original movie, Tracey Wigfield (Great News), Jonathan Prince (The Cleaner, American Soul), Howard Klein (The Office, Parks and Recreation), Charlie Grandy (Champions), Tristram Shapeero (Community) and Charles McDougall (The Good Wife). Barber has previously scored the Kaling-produced, -written and -starring feature Late Night, which is opening in theaters this weekend. Four Weddings and a Funeral is set to premiere on July 31, 2019 exclusively on Hulu.
Barber’s other recent projects include Semi Chellas’ American Woman, which premiered in April at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival and is currently awaiting a distribution deal.
