Deadline is reporting that Chance The Rapper is developing the original movie musical Hope. The hip-hop artist who recently contributed music to Illumination’s animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch is producing the MGM production with Pat Corcoran and Scott Bernstein (Straight Outta Compton, The Turning). Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Nico Segal (aka Donnie Trumpet) will oversee the creation of the film’s original music. Carlito Rodriguez is writing the screenplay for the film, which follows a group of Chicago teenagers that band together to turn art into action within their community. No word yet on a production start date for the project.
