Film/TV Music Panels at Comic-Con 2018 Announced

The line-up for several film music-related panels at Comic-Con 2018 has been announced. On Thursday, July 19, a number of film/TV composers will participate in the 10th annual Behind the Music panel. Mac Quayle (Mr. RobotAmerican Horror Story), Siddhartha Khosla (This Is UsRunaways),  Jared Faber (Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, Captain Underpants), Jim Dooley (A Series of Unfortunate Events), Sherri Chung (Riverdale, Blindspot) and Kris Bowers (Dear White People) will be participating in a discussion moderated by actors Jon Huertas (This Is Us) and Sara Rue (A Series of Unfortunate Events). The composers will discuss what it takes to score some of the most celebrated film and television projects of the past decade. Behind the Music: Crime, Death and Resurrection will take place at 10:00am in Room 25ABC.

On the same day, Chris Villain and Bryon Burton will moderate the panel Sounds of Mayhem: Music and Audio in Action Films, TV, and Video Games. The event will feature experts in the sound field, including composers, sound mixers, and sound editors talk about setting tone and controlling the soundscape. Participating composers include Leo Birenberg & Zach Robinson (Cobra Kai), Tim Davies (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia), Michael Gatt (DC Super Hero Girls, Braid) and Penka Kouneva (Prince of Persia, Mummy VR). They are joined by sound editor Mark Stoeckinger (Deadpool 2). The panel will take place at 11:00am in Room 25ABC.

On Saturday, July 21, a number of composers, music supervisors, and professionals will discuss how they create and bring music to your favorite projects in film, television, and video games at the The Character of Music panel. Panelists scheduled to appear include composers Nima Fakhrara (Detroit: Become Human, The Signal), Carly Paradis (The Innocents) and Benjamin Wynn aka DERU (Impulse, Avatar: The Last Airbender), music supervisors/Fox Music senior vice president John Houlihan (Deadpool 2) and senior vice president of Television Music Sony Pictures Entertainment Tony Scudellari (Breaking Bad). The panel moderated by Chandler Poling of White Bear PR will take place at 1:00pm in Room 9.

On the same day, Blair Mowat, musical arranger on Doctor Who and composer on spinoffs Class and Torchwood, will take the audience on a musical journey through the Whoniverse from 1963 to 2018 at the panel The Musical Universe of Doctor Who. The event will take place at 2:00pm at Grand 9, Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina.
