Leo Birenberg is scoring DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming series Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny. The show based on the studios’ feature film franchise revolves around four panda kids who stumble upon a mystical cave beneath Panda Village, accidentally absorbing the chi of ancient and powerful kung fu warriors known as the Four Constellations, and must realize a destiny to save the world from an evil force. Mitch Watson (All Hail King Julien), Elliott Owen and Lane Lueras are producing the project. Hans Zimmer & John Powell composed the scores for the three Kung Fu Panda features, while Jeremy Zuckerman & Benjamin Wynn scored Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, the first TV series based on the movies. Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny will premiere later this year on Amazon Prime.
Birenberg whose recent projects include the YouTube Red hit series Cobra Kai, which has been renewed for a second season, also has the indie comedy Plus One written and directed by Andrew Rhymer & Jeff Chan and starring Jack Quaid, Maya Erskine, Ed Begley Jr, Perrey Reeves & Finn Wittrock coming up. He is also composing the music for the documentary In Search of Greatness directed by Gabe Polsky. The composer has previously co-scored the director’s last feature, Red Army, with Christophe Beck. The documentary will be released later this year.
