Alexandre Desplat has received his third BAFTA Award for his score for Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water in the Original Music category today at the ceremony at the Orange British Academy Film Awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London. The composer accepted his award in person at the event. Check out his acceptance speech after the jump. He previously received BAFTAs for his work on The King’s Speech and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Desplat was nominated alongside Benjamin Wallfisch & Hans Zimmer (Blade Runner 2049, Dunkirk), Dario Marianelli (Darkest Hour) and Jonny Greenwood (Phantom Thread).The composer also received the Golden Globe for his score for The Shape of Water and is also up for an Academy Award.
