Dan Romer announced this week on Twitter that he has recently scored the upcoming Netflix original series Atypical. The show is created by Robia Rashid (The Goldbergs) and stars Keir Gilchrist, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Rapaport, Brigette Lundy-Paine and Amy Okuda. The comedy drama revolves around a 18-year-old on the autism spectrum, who takes a funny, yet painful, journey of self-discovery for love and independence and upends his family. Rashid is also executive producing the project with Mary Rohlich and Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Baywatch, Identity Thief) who directed the first episode. Atypical will premiere on August 11, 2017 on Netflix.
Romer’s recent projects also include the indie comedy The Little Hours, which just opened in select theaters this weekend, the documentary Chasing Coral, which will premiere on July 14 on Netflix, William H. Macy’s Krystal, as well as the drama Freak Show, which will be released later this year by IFC Films.
