David Buckley is composing the music for the upcoming remake of the 1973 classic Papillon. The film is directed by Michael Noer (R, Northwest) and stars Charlie Hunnam, Rami Malek, Tommy Flanagan, Michael Socha and Nikola Kent. The movie is a modern retelling of the original, which was based on the memoirs of convicted felon and fugitive Henri Charriere. Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) wrote the screenplay. Joey McFarland & Riza Aziz (The Wolf of Wall Street), David Koplan, Ram Bergman (Looper, Brick) and Roger Corbi are producing the project. Jerry Goldsmith scored the original movie, for which he received an Academy Award nomination. Papillon is currently in post-production. No word yet on a release date.
Buckley will also return to score the second season of CBS’ The Good Fight, which is expected to premiere in 2018.
I remember that scene from “Spaceballs” when one of the character asked Candy’s character’s name and he said, “BAAARRRFFF!!!”
