Carlo Virzi is reteaming with his brother Paolo Virzi on the upcoming drama The Leisure Seeker. The film marks the English language debut of the filmmaker whose previous movies include 2013’s Human Capital, 2010’s The First Beautiful Thing and last year’s Like Crazy and and stars Helen Mirren, Donald Sutherland, Kirsty Mitchell, Christian McKay and Robert Pralgo. The movie is inspired by the novel of the same name by Michael Zadoorian and follows a runaway couple going on a cross-country journey in their vintage camper as they flee the suffocating care of their doctors and grown children. Virzi also co-wrote the screenplay with Francesca Archibugi, Francesco Piccolo and Stephen Amidon. Fabrizio Donvito, Benedetto Habib and Marco Cohen are producing the project. Carlo Virzi has previously scored all of his brother’s major features. The Leisure Seeker is expected to premiere at one of the major film festivals later this year. Sony Pictures Classics has picked up domestic distribution rights. No word yet on a release date.
