Todor Kobabkov has been tapped to score the upcoming BET mini-series Madiba. The drama is directed by Kevin Hooks (Prison Break, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) and stars Laurence Fishburne as Nelson Mandela, alongside Orlando Jones, David Harewood, Michael Nyqvist and Terry Pheto. The 3-parter is based on two Mandela autobiographies, Conversations With Myself and Nelson Mandela by Himself and tells the story of a younger Nelson Mandela during the early-60s as he deals with the political unrest engulfing South Africa. Blue Ice Pictures’ president Lance Samuels is executive producing the project and Paul Webb (Selma), Jane Maggs (The Offering), Janine Eser, Avie Luthra (Lucky) and Kathleen McGhee-Anderson (The Fosters) have written the scripts. Kobakov’s previous scoring credits include the features The Samaritan, Born to Be Blue, Closet Monster and Syfy’s series Bitten. Madiba is set to premiere on February 1, 2017 on BET.
