Two movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the supernatural thriller Incarnate directed by Brad Peyton and starring Aaron Eckhart, Carice van Houten, Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Mazouz. The film’s original music is composed by Andrew Lockington (San Andreas, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island). No soundtrack album has been announced. The Jason Blum-produced movie revolves around an unconventional exorcist who taps into the subconscious of a nine-year old boy who is possessed by a powerful, ancient demon. The thriller is being released by High Top Releasing/BH Tilt.
Also opening wide is the faith-based drama Believe written and directed by Billy Dickson and starring Ryan O’Quinn, Shawnee Smith, Danielle Nicolet, Kevin Sizemore, David DeLuise and Isaac Ryan Brown. Michael Reola (Melissa & Joey) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack album. The movie follows a small-town business owner who tries to save the local Christmas pageant against all odds. The drama is being distributed by Freestyle Releasing. Opening in limited release is the drama Jackie directed by Pablo Larrain and starring Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup and John Hurt. The film’s original music is composed by Mica Levi (Under the Skin). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score. Also opening in select theaters is the drama Man Down directed by Dito Montiel and starring Shia LaBeouf, Jai Courtney, Gary Oldman, Kate Mara, Charlie Shotwell and Clifton Collins Jr. Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, Noah, Black Swan, Moon, The Fountain, The Wrestler) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been released. The movie follows a U.S. Marine who returns home from his tour in Afghanistan and finds that the place he once called home is no better than the battlefields he fought on overseas. The drama premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is being released in theaters and on VOD by Lionsgate Premiere.
Also opening in select cities is the horror thriller Pet directed by Carles Torrens and starring Dominic Monaghan, Ksenia Solo, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Parsons, Da’Vone McDonald and John Ross Bowie. The film’s original music is composed by Zacarías M. de la Riva (Automata, Tad, the Last Explorer). No word yet on a soundtrack release. The movie follows an introverted man who imprisons a woman, only to find the tables turned on him. The thriller premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released in theaters and on VOD by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
Also opening in limited release is the drama Run the Tide directed by Soham Mehta and starring Taylor Lautner, Constance Zimmer, Kenny Johnson, Johanna Braddy, Ben Browder and Nico Christou. Tommy Simpson has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album is available. The movie follows a man who kidnaps his younger brother and escapes their desert home for the California coast when their drug abusing mother is released from prison. The drama is being released by Momentum Pictures and is now also available on VOD.
