David Wingo revealed in a recent interview with GoSeeTalk.com that he is currently co-scoring the upcoming indie drama State Like Sleep with Jeff McIlwain. The film is written and directed by Meredith Danluck and stars Katherine Waterston, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans and Mark O’Brien. The movie revolves around a woman whose celebrity husband commits suicide and starts to discover his double life and to struggle with the truth to unanswered questions. Eddie Vaisman (In a World…) is producing the project with Julie Lebedev and Angel Lopez (Dear White People). Wingo and McIlwain have previously co-scored such films as Snow Angels, Joe and The Sitter. State Like Sleep is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2017.
Wingo whose most recent project is Jeff Nichols’ Loving, which is currently playing in theaters, also has the indie comedy Brigsby Bear coming up. The film is directed by Dave McCary and stars Kyle Mooney, Greg Kinnear, Claire Danes, Mark Hamill, Andy Samberg, Matt Walsh, Michaela Watkins and Jane Adams. The movie centers on a children’s television show produced for an audience of one person who realizes that everything about his life is a lie when the show abruptly ends. McCary and Mooney co-wrote the screenplay and The Lonely Island team is producing the project with Phil Lord & Chris Miller (21/22 Jump Street, The Lego Movie). The comedy is also expected to premiere next year.
