John Powell and David Buckley have been hired to score the upcoming action thriller Jason Bourne. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips) who previously helmed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum and stars Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie takes place seven years after The Bourne Ultimatum and follows the title character as he unexpectedly resurfaces at a time when the world is faced with unprecedented instability. Greengrass and editor Christopher Rouse have written the screenplay based on the characters created by Robert Ludlum. Frank Marshall (Jurassic World, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Sixth Sense) is producing the project with Jeffrey Weiner, Greengrass, Damon, Gregory Goodman (X-Men: First Class) and Ben Smith. Powell previously scored the original Bourne Trilogy and also scored United 93 and Green Zone for Greengrass. Jason Bourne will be released on July 29, 2016 by Universal Pictures.
