Atli Orvarsson is scoring the new NBC drama Chicago Med. The show is created by Michael Brandt & Derek Haas (Wanted, 3:10 to Yuma) and stars Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Nick Gehlfuss, Yaya DaCosta, Colin Donnell, Torrey DeVitto and Rachel DiPillo. The series marks the third entry in the Chicago franchise following Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D., which Orvarsson is also scoring, and centers on the day-to-day chaos of the city’s newest state-of-the-art trauma center and the lives of its doctors, nurses and staff. Brandt and Haas are also executive producing the Universal Television and Wolf Films production with Dick Wolf (Law & Order), Andrew Schneider & Diane Frolov (Northern Exposure, Matt Olmstead (Prison Break), Danielle Gelber, Arthur Forney & Peter Jankowski (Law & Order). Chicago Med will premiere on November 17, 2015 and will air every Monday night on NBC. Visit the official show website for updates.
As previously reported, also coming up for Orvarsson is the animated feature Bilal. He recently recorded his score at Abbey Road Studios in London. The composer also scored the Icelandic entry for this season’s Academy Awards, Rams, which has recently been picked up by Cohen Media Group for a domestic release.
