I was hoping Paul Haslinger to do it. His score for The 3 Musketeers was really perfect.

    • Macejko says:

Agreed. Although not entirely original (the Zimmer influence was really obvious), that score was one of the best of 2011.

  2. Ds says:

Agree, it has a general HZ and RCP influence all over it, but in no way could it be considered as a “rip off” or something like so (too) many composers do. While the style was the same, it remained imo entirely fresh.

That’s why I wanted Haslinger to return for Pompeii, because he could’ve delivered the kind of epic stuff HZ did back in the 2000’s (notably King Arthur), while remaining original.

  3. John R. says:

Haslinger is great – love his work. However, this post is about Clinton. How about we raise a glass and pat him on the back for breaking through, gentlemen? How about we give him another pat on the back for having broken through without having to have come thru Remote Control? THAT in and of itself, is a noteworthy achievement.

    • Ds says:

Hum, you’re absolutely right. Fyi, Paul Haslinger isn’t RCP at all. And of course we wish Clinton Shorter all the luck in the world, we also hope he’ll deliver something wonderful and get a big visibility from general audiences!

      • John R. says:

Hum, thanks for your reply: “Fyi, Paul Haslinger isn’t RCP at all. “……yes. I know that. We both had the same agent for a while.
