Premiering on Saturday, July 19 is Disney Channel’s original movie musical Teen Beach Movie directed by Jeffrey Hornaday and starring Ross Lynch, Maia Mitchell, Grace Phipps, Garrett Clayton, John DeLuca, Chrissie Fit, Kevin Chamberlin and Steve Valentine. The film’s original score is composed by David Lawrence (American Pie, Van Wilder, Jericho) who previously scored all three parts of Disney’s High School Musical series. Now available on Netflix is the new comedy drama series Orange Is the New Black created by Jenji Kohan and starring Taylor Schilling, Jason Biggs, Laura Prepon, Michelle Hurst, Kate Mulgrew, Natasha Lyonne, Michael Harney, Pablo Schreiber, Danielle Brooks, Uzo Aduba, Taryn Manning, Yael Stone. The Lionsgate Television production follows a woman from Connecticut, who is sent to a women’s federal prison for possessing a suitcase full of drug money for an international drug smuggler and her one-time lover. Gwendolyn Sanford, Brandon Jay and Scott Doherty have composed the show’s music. Sanford and Jay have previously scored the Kohan-created Showtime series Weeds. Premiering tonight on HBO is the second season of the drama The Newsroom created by Aaron Sorkin and starring Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel and Sam Waterston. Johnny Klimek (Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run, One Hour Photo) has taken over scoring duties on the show from Alex Wurman who scored the first season.
