Graham Reynolds has composed the score for the indie comedy drama Almost Christmas. The film is directed by Phil Morrison and stars Paul Rudd, Paul Giamatti, Sally Hawkins, Amy Landecker, Peter Hermann and Emory Cohen. The movie follows two French Canadian Christmas tree salesmen who travel to New York to sell trees. Melissa James Gibson (The Americans) has written the screenplay and Daniel Carey & Elizabeth Giamatti (Cold Souls), John Penotti (Awake, Uptown Girls) and Jim Tauber (Stand Up Guys) are producing the Touchy Feely Films and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment production. The project marks Morrison’s second feature following 2005’s Junebug, for which Amy Adams received her first Oscar nomination and which featured a score by Yo La Tengo. Almost Christmas just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. No word yet on a release date for the film.
Reynolds whose previous film scoring credits include Richard Linklater’s Bernie and A Scanner Darkly also has the director’s latest feature Before Midnight starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy coming out. The film, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival will be released on May 24, 2013 by Sony Pictures Classics and a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music is set to come out on May 21 by Milan Records (click here to pre-order the CD).
