Composer Ilan Eshkeri and singer/songwriter Andy Burrows have recently recorded their score for the British animated short The Snowman and the Snowdog. The short film is a sequel to the 1982 Academy Award-nominated animated special The Snowman based on the children’s book by Raymond Briggs. The sequel is written and directed by Hilary Audus and Joanna Harrison who also worked on the original special. Briggs is involved as a script consultant. The original film was scored by Howard Blake. Ehskeri and Burrows have recorded their score earlier this month with the London Metropolitan Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London. In addition to a 60-piece orchestra, a choir featuring Emmy the Great, Edith Bowman, All Angels, Celia Graham and musical backing from Ash’s Tim Wheeler and Dom Howard from Muse was also recorded. The official single Light the Night, which accompanies the flying sequence featuring the Snowman and the Snowdog in the film will be released on December 10, 2012 and in the UK and the full soundtrack is coming out on December 17.
