Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez have been tapped to write the original songs for the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures animated feature Frozen. The film directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf’s Up) takes place in a kingdom trapped in eternal winter and follows the young dreamer Anna who must team up with a daring mountain man, on a journey to find the Snow Queen and put an end to the icy spell. Kristen Bell will lend her voice to Anna’s character while Idina Menzel is voicing the Snow Queen. Peter Del Vecho (The Princess and the Frog) is producing the animated feature. No word yet on which composer will be writing the project’s underscore. Anderson-Lopez and Lopez have previously co-written the original songs for last year’s Winnie the Pooh for Disney and Del Vecho. Anderson-Lopez has also written the music a stage version of the Pixar hit film Finding Nemo and Lopez is best known for co-writing the songs with Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormons. Frozen is set to be released on November 27, 2013 by Walt Disney Pictures.
