Film Music Reporter has been able to confirm that Andrew Lockington will be back to score the sequel to the family adventure Journey to the Center of the Earth, which the composer scored in 2008. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island stars Josh Hutcherson , Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, Vanessa Hudgens, Kristin Davis and Luis Guzman. The movie is loosely based on Jules Verne’s The Mysterious Island and tells the story of Sean Anderson who takes on a trip to a mythical and monstrous island to find his missing grandfather. The film marks the second feature film for director Brad Peyton who directed last year’s Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, which featured a score by Christopher Lennertz. Journey 2 was shot in 3D and will be released on September 23, 2011 by Warner Bros.
Lockington also has the dance movie You Got Served: Beat the World coming out this year. The film starring Tyrone Brown and Mishael Morgan is the follow up to the 2008 hit film Stomp the Yard and is directed by Robert Adetuyi who scripted the earlier movie. You Got Served: Beat the World revolves around young hip-hop crews from Canada, Germany, Japan, Brazil and the U.S. as they descend on Detroit for an international dance championship called Beat the World. No release date has been announced for the film, but a release later this year is expected.
