Film Music Reporter has learned that Brian Reitzell has been hired to score the upcoming horror drama Red Riding Hood. The movie is directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, The Nativity Story, Thirteen) and stars Amanda Seyfried. The movie is set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf and where a young girl falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family’s displeasure. Apart from composing the score, Reitzell will also write and produce the film’s songs and serve as the movie’s music supervisor. The film starts shooting at the end of this month and will be released on March 11, 2011 by Warner Bros.

As previously reported, Reitzell will also be scoring the comedy Goats starring Jason Schwartzman.

  1. Massie says:

what song did he do in the trailer to red riding hood?

I think carter’s music fits perfectly in the place of the movies true depth. The composures pefrect for the films.

  2. ToruSashimi says:

I don’t think this is going to work out very well… seems like this film would need a lush score, not a one-note monotone unmusical approach, which is mostly what Reitzell does. We’ll see… maybe he’ll hire someone else to write the melodies.
