Film Music Reporter has learned that Danny Elfman has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Next Three Days. The movie directed by Paul Haggis stars Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Olivia Wilde and Brian Dennehy. In the movie, an English teacher devises a daring plan and takes extreme actions to rescue his wife from jail where she has been wrongfully imprisoned for murder. The Next Three Days is based on the 2007 French movie Pour Elle which received a score by Klaus Badelt. The movie marks writer/director Haggis’ first collaboration with Danny Elfman. His regular composer collaborator Mark Isham (Crash, In The Valley of Elah) reportedly was originally slated to score the movie. Other reports indicated that Alberto Iglesias was hired to score the movie earlier this year, but Film Music Reporter hasn’t been able to confirm his involvement. No release date has been announced for the Lionsgate movie, but an announcement is expected shortly. Our sources indicate that Elfman will be scoring the movie before he starts working on his other upcoming project The Green Hornet, which is scheduled to be released in January 2011.
