Ryan Miller (of Guster) (Safety Not GuaranteedThe Kings of Summer, The Fundamentals of Caring, In a World…) & Jay Lifton (Sister of the GroomHow He Fell in Love) have teamed up to score the upcoming comedy Babes. The film marks the directorial debut of actress/writer Pamela Adlon (Better Things) and stars Ilana Glazer, Michelle Buteau, John Carroll Lynch and Hasan Minhaj. The movie centers on a woman who – after becoming pregnant from a one-night stand – leans on her married best friend and mother of two to guide her through gestation and beyond. Glazer also co-wrote the screenplay with Josh Rabinowitz (Rel) who are both producing the project with Ashley Fox (Promising Young Woman, The People We Hate at the Wedding), Susie Fox and Breean Pojunas. Miller & Lifton have previously co-scored the 2016 documentary Land Grab and the 2022 romantic comedy Something from Tiffany’s. Babes is premiering this weekend at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival and is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 17 by Neon.
