Composer Gary Yershon (Brighton, Trial and Retribution, 23 Walks) is reteaming with director Mike Leigh on the upcoming British drama Hard Truths. The film is written and directed by Leigh (Secrets & Lies, Vera Drake, Naked) and stars Marianne Jean-Baptiste. No plot details have been announced yet, but the movie is being described as a “tough but compassionate intimate study of family life.” Georgina Lowe is producing the Thin Man Films and The Mediapro production. Yershon has previously collaborated with Leigh on the director’s previous four features, Happy-Go-Lucky, Another Year, Mr. Turner (which earned him his first Academy Award nomination) and Peterloo. Hard Truths is expected to premiere later this year and will be distributed in the U.S. by Bleecker Street.
