Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Chicken Run, Man on Fire, Mulan, The Meg) has been hired to score the upcoming historical drama Gladiator 2. The sequel to the Academy Award-winning 2000 feature (scored by Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard) is directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Thelma & Louise) and stars Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, Fred Hechinger Joseph Quinn and Pedro Pascal. The movie focuses on Lucius, the nephew of Commodus who – after being saved by Maximus – is now a grown man. David Scarpa (Napoleon, All the Money in the World) wrote the screenplay. Scott is also producing the project with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler, Equals), Douglas Wick (The Great Gatsby, Stuart Little) and Lucy Fisher (Divergent, Memoirs of a Geisha). Gregson-Williams has previously collaborated with Scott on Kingdom of Heaven, The Martian, The Last Duel and House of Gucci. He also contributed additional music to director’s Exodus: Gods and Kings and was originally set to score the director’s Prometheus, but was later replaced by Marc Streitenfeld. Gladiator 2 is set to be released in theaters nationwide on November 22, 2024 by Universal Pictures. (Variety)

Gregson-Williams is also expected to return to co-score the third season of HBO’s The Gilded Age.
