Premiering today is the Showtime original series The First Lady created by Aaron Cooley, directed by Susanne Bier and starring Viola Davis as Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford, Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt, as well as Kiefer Sutherland, Aaron Eckhart, Dakota Fanning, Regina Taylor, Lily Rabe and Jayme Lawson. The show’s original music is composed by Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Men Tell No TalesMaleficent: Mistress of Evil, Into the West, DisturbiaThe IntruderChristopher Robin). The drama, which will air every Sunday on Showtime.

Premiering on Friday is the Apple TV+ docuseries They Call Me Magic directed by Rick Famuyiwa about the life and career of NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson.  Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansmanMalcolm X, Perry Mason, 25th Hour, Red Tails, HarrietDa 5 Bloods, SwaggerOne Night in Miami…) has composed the show’s original music. Also premiering on Friday is the British Netflix original series Heartstopper developed by Alice Oseman based on the graphic novel by herself, directed by Euros Lyn and starring Joe Locke, Kit Connor, William Gao, Yasmin Finney and Corinna Brown. The show’s original music is composed by  Adiescar Chase. The coming-of-age drama, which revolves around two teens who discover their unlikely friendship might be something more as they navigate school and young love, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.

Also premiering on Friday in the U.S. is the British limited series A Very British Scandal written by Sarah Phelps and starring Paul Bettany and Claire Foy. Nathan Barr (True BloodThe Americans, Hostel, The Great, Hollywood, Hemlock Grove, Cabin Fever, Halston) has composed the show’s original music. The 3-part drama, which focuses on the divorce of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll one of the most notorious, extraordinary, and brutal legal cases of the 20th century, premiered in the UK in late 2021 on BBC One and is making its U.S. debut on Amazon Prime.

Also premiering on Friday is the Disneynature documentary Polar Bear directed by Alastair Fothergill  & Jeff Wilson and narrated by Catherine Keener. The film’s original music is composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia,The Martian, Shrek, Mulan, The Last Duel, Kingdom of Heaven, Penguins, Monkey Kingdsom) . Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album featuring teh composer’s score on Friday.
