Alexei Aigui (The TruthLocust, Test) has recently scored the new HBO hybrid docu-series Exterminate All the Brutes. The show is written and directed by Raoul Peck (Sometimes in April) and follows the filmmaker as he deconstructs the making and masking of history, focusing on the exploitative and genocidal aspects of European colonialism – from America to Africa and its impact on society today. The 4-parter reframes and revisits the meaning of the Native American genocide and American slavery and their fundamental implications for our present. Josh Hartnett plays the lead role in the scripted portions of the film. Peck is also executive producing the Velvet Film production with Rémi Grellety. Aigui has previously collaborated with Peck on the 2016 feature documentary I Am Not Your Negro and 2017 narrative movie The Young Karl Marx. Exterminate All the Brutes will premiere on April 7 on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

The composer’s other recent projects include the Russian sports drama White Snow, which just opened in Russian theaters this month, as well as Maria Ivanova’s indie drama The Anger.
