cinemaaudiosocietyThe Cinema Audio Society has announced the nominees for the 57th Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing. For the past couple of years, scoring mixers have been recognized alongside production, re-recording, ADR and foley mixers. In the Motion Pictures – Live Action category, the scoring mixers honored include Greg Hayes for Aaron Schneider’s Greyhound (scored by Blake Neely), Alan Meyerson for David Fincher’s Mank (music by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross), Shawn Murphy for Paul Greengrass’ News of the World (scored by James Newton Howard) and composer Daniel Pemberton for Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7.In the Motion Pictures – Animated category, the nominated scoring mixers are Brad Haehnel for Pixar’s Onward (scored by Mychael & Jeff Danna), Atticus Ross & David Boucher for Pixar’s Soul (music by Ross, Trent Reznor & Jon Batiste), Chris Fogel for DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour (scored by Theodore Shapiro), as well as Alan Meyerson who received two more nominations for Aardman Animation’s A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (scored by Tom Howe) and DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods: A New Age (music by Mark Mothersbaugh). In the Motion Picture – Documentary category, Gareth Cousins received a nomination for mixing Steven Price’s score for David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet and Mark Venezia was nominated for Netflix’s The Social Dilemma (score by Mark Crawford). In the Television Series – 1 Hour category, scoring mixer Phil McGowan was recognized for his work on the season 3 finale of Netflix’s Ozark (scored by Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans), Stewart Lerman for the season 3 episode A Jewish Girl Walks Into the Apollo of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Ramin Djawadi was nominated for his own score mix for the Westworld  Season 3 episode The Mother of Exile. In the Television Series – 1/2 Hour category, Chris Fogel received two more nominations for the Season 2 chapters 2 & 13 (The Child & The Jedi) of Disney+’s The Mandalorian (scored by Ludwig Goransson) and George Murphy was recognized for his scoring mix for the season 1 finale (The Hope that Kills You) of Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso (scored by Marcus Mumford & Tom Howe). In the Television Movie or Limited Series category, Michael Perfitt received a nomination for his work on the Season 4 episode East/West of FX’s Fargo (scored by Jeff Russso), Brad Haehnel was nominated for the first episode (Sundown) of HBO’s Lovecraft Country (music by Laura Karpman & Rapghael Saadiq), Lawrence Manchester received a nomination for Episode 4 (Middle Game) of Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit (scored by Carlos Rafael Rivera) and Atticus Ross received another nomination for mixing his & Trent Renzor’s score for the sixth episode (This Extraordinary Being) of HBO’s Watchmen.
