The only movie premiering in theaters nationwide this weekend is the supernatural horror thriller The Empty Man written and directed by David Prior and starring James Badge Dale, Marin Ireland, Stephen Root, Robert Aramayo, Ron Canada, Joel Courtney and Sasha Frolova. The film’s original music is composed by Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3Hellraiser, Sinister, The Shipping NewsThe Hurricane, Ghost Rider) and Lustmord (First Reformed). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score. Opening in select theaters is the sci-fi thriller Synchronic directed by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead and starring Anthony Mackie, Jamie Dornan and Katie Aselton. Jimmy LaValle (aka The Album Leaf) (The EndlessSpring, The F**k-It List) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be announced soon. The movie, which follows two New Orleans paramedics as they stumble upon a bizarre plot involving a series of drug-related deaths, premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and is being distributed by Well Go USA Entertainment.

Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the romantic drama After We Collided directed by Roger Kumble and starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Josephine Langford, Dylan Sprouse, Selma Blair, Charlie Weber and Candice King. The film’s original music is composed by Justin Burnett (Dungeons & DragonsAn American HauntingGetaway) who previously scored the original film, After. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is the works. Also opening in select theaters and on VOD is the comedy Friendsgiving written and directed by Nicol Paone and starring Malin Akerman, Kat Dennings, Aisha Tyler, Christine Taylor, Chelsea Peretti, Jane Seymour, Ryan Hansen, Deon Cole and Wanda Sykes. Jessica Weiss (Trouble, Liza on Demand) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows two friends whose Thanksgiving plans go up in smoke when their party is crashed by a chaotic group of friends, lovers, and relatives, is being released by Saban Films and will also be available on Blu-ray and DVD next Tuesday, October 27.

Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the animated feature Terra Willy co-written and directed by Éric Tosti and starring Landen Beattie, Jason Canning, Laura Post, Keith Silverstein and Susan Myers. The film’s original music is composed by Olivier Cussac (The Jungle Bunch). Music Box Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score,as well as a song by Julien Barbagallo last year when the movie opened overseas. Opening in select U.S. theaters (following its international theatrical release last weekend) before premiering on Hulu next month is the documentary I Am Greta directed by Nathan Grossman about Greta Thunberg’s one-year rise from high-school climate strike organizer to inspiration for a global movement. Rebekka Karijord (Pray, Obey, Kill) & Jon Ekstrand (MorbiusLife, Borg vs. McEnroe, Easy MoneyChild 44). Oona Recordings will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score in the U.S. on November 13 and has already released the album in several European markets.
