Composer Roger Suen is reteaming with director Justin Chon on the upcoming drama Blue Bayou. The film is written and directed by Chon and stars Chon himself, alongside Alicia Vikander, Mark O’Brien, Linh Dan Pham and Emory Cohen. The movie tells the story of a Korean adoptee raised in the United States who is forced to confront his distant past and what it means for his own future and his family’s when he unexpectedly faces deportation. Chon is also producing the project with Charles D. King (Sorry to Bother You, Mudbound), Poppy Hanks (Tigertail) and Kim Roth (American Made, Tower Heist). Suen has previously scored Chon’s last two features Gook and Ms. Purple. Blue Bayou has recently been picked up by Focus Features for domestic distribution and is expected to premiere later this year.
