Jeff Russo has been hired to score the upcoming Netflix original series The Umbrella Academy. The show is developed by Steve Blackman (Legion, Altered Carbon) based on the comics and graphic novels of the same name created by Gerard Way and stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Adam Godley, Ashley Madekwe and Kate Walsh. The drama revolves around a dysfunctional family of superheroes who come together to solve the mystery of their father’s death, the threat of the apocalypse and more. Blackman is also executive producing the Universal Cable production with Dark Horse Entertainment’ Mike Richardson (Hellboy) and Keith Goldberg (Dark Matter). No release date has been announced yet for The Umbrella Academy.

Russo’s other current TV scoring credits include Legion, Star Trek: Discovery, Counterpart, Power and Snowfall. The composer’s upcoming feature projects include Peter Berg’s Mile 22 starring Mark Wahlberg and Noah Hawley’s Pale Blue Dot starring Natalie Portman.
