Singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles will provide original music for the upcoming half-hour dramedy Little Voice for Apple’s streaming service. The show created by Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam, Stepmom) is described as a “love letter to the diverse musicality of New York” and explores the universal journey of finding your authentic voice in your early 20s. Bareilles and Nelson are also executive producing the project with J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lost, Star Trek) and Ben Stephenson (Westworld). Bareilles has previously contributed an original song for last year’s Battle of the Sexes. She previously collaborated with Nelson on the stage musical Waitress, for which she received a Tony Award nomination. Little Voice has received an order for a first 10-episode season.
