Craig Armstrong has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming drama Mrs. Lowry and Son. The film is directed by Adrian Noble (The Importance of Being Earnest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and stars Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave. The movie examines the relationship between British painter L.S. Lowry, who was famous for painting scenes of life in the industrial districts of North West England in the mid-20th century and his mother, Elizabeth. Martyn Hesford (Fantabulosa!) wrote the screenplay based on his own stage play of the same title. Debbie Gray (Northern Soul) is producing the project. Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love) was originally attached to score the movie. Mrs. Lowry and Son is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.
