Lorne Balfe has composed original music for the upcoming film adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. He is credited as the film’s composer alongside Clint Mansell who was previously announced as the movie’s composer. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the film’s score later this month. The sci-fi adventure is directed by Rupert Sanders and stars Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt. The movie based on the Japanese manga of the same title created by Masamune Shirow will be released nationwide on March 31, 2017 by Paramount Pictures. Visit the official movie website for more information.
Balfe whose recent projects include The Lego Batman Movie, which is now playing in theaters, also has the National Geographic Channel original series Genius, as well as the biographical drama Churchill coming up.
HAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSS!
So, Mansell’s score wasn’t completly rejected? Is this an Age of Ultron-like situation?
The film only had a premiere in Japan on the 16th. [most] Everywhere else it doesn’t open until the 30 or 31. We’ll see what the composer credit reads then.
Uh oh.
How exactly this talentless incompetent hack keeps getting hired?
Who is talentless ?
Oh, that’s pretty easy, actually. Even the less talented hacks can get the opportunity to score a big movie/videogame/TV series/etc., if he’s hired by Zimmer’s Remote Control. Balfe and Junkie XL are the living proofs of this.
You think Balfe is talentless !!!! Listen to Salinger and Legobatman and explain how he has no talent !!!!
Yeah… Ive heard that trash.
Trash ? Thankfully you are in the minority . And possibly a bit deaf ???
Oh dear – I wonder what the story is behind this. Clint Mansell not scoring Darren Aronofsky’s next movie was shocking enough news. I’ll lower my expectations for this soundtrack accordingly (no disrespect to Lorne Balfe), though I hope Mansell’s name being the first listed means most of his work is still present.
Lorne can meet studio demands, why blame him?
Balfe is on a roll at the moment so great to hear this . Looking forward
to what he does with Ron Howard’s show also . Seems one of the busiest composers at the moment
Hearing that Balfe is working on this score makes me want to see it more than ever .
There are two clips out there with the score and it sounds phenomenal.
Blafe has already confirmed the score release is simply not happening.
Why aren’t they releasing the score on CD? that really sucks
