johann-johannssonJohann Johannsson confirmed in a recent interview on the Icelandic radio station RUV that he will be reteaming with Denis Villeneuve on the upcoming Blade Runner sequel. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Jared Leto and Robin Wright. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green (Green Lantern) have written the screenplay. Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator) who directed the 1982 original film (scored by Vangelis) is producing the project with Broderick Johnson, Andrew A. Kosove (The Blind Side, Insomnia, The Book of Eli). Johannsson has previously collaborated with Villeneuve on PrisonersSicario and the upcoming Arrival. Vangelis composed the music for Ridley Scott’s 1982 original film. The Blade Runner sequel is set to be released on October 6, 2017 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

As previously reported, Johannsson also has James Marsh’s drama The Mercy starring Colin Firth & Rachel Weisz coming up. He also scored the indie drama Lovesong, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Strand Releasing for domestic release in 2017.
