Nicolas Jaar has composed the music for the upcoming drama Dheepan. The film is directed by Jacques Audiard and stars Jesuthasan Antonythasan, Kalieaswari Srinivasan, Claudine Vinasithamby, Vincent Rottiers and Marc Zinga. The movie follows a former soldier, a young woman and a little girl pose who as a family to escape the civil war in Sri Lanka and end up settling in a housing project outside Paris. Audiard also co-wrote the script with Thomas Bidegain (Saint Laurent) and Noe Debre. Pascal Caucheteux (Assault on Precint 13) is producing the project. Audiard’s last couple of features, including the Academy Award-nominated drama A Prophet, Rust and Bone and The Beat That My Heart Skipped were scored by Alexandre Desplat. Jaar who is best known for as an electronic music producer, recently part of the duo Darkside, is making his film scoring debut with the project. Dheepan will premiere later this month at the Cannes Film Festival.
