Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell revealed in a recent interview with Collider that Joseph LoDuca will be providing the score for the upcoming Starz original series Ash vs. Evil Dead. The show is the follow-up to the classic film franchise The Evil Dead and stars Bruce Campbell who will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones are c0-starring. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz: The Great and Powerful) is directing the pilot episode and is also executive producing the project with Rob Tapert (Drag Me to Hell, The Grudge), Campbell and Craig DiGregorio who will also serve as the showrunner of the project. LoDuca has previously composed the music for Raimi’s original Evil Dead trilogy and also scored Raimi-produced shows/films including Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Spartacus and The Messengers. The first season of Ash vs. Evil Dead is currently shooting in New Zealand. No word yet on a premiere date.
LoDuca’s recent projects also include TNT’s The Librarians series, which will return for a second season later this year, as well as Joe Dante’s horror comedy Burying the Ex starring Anton Yelchin, which premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival and will be released this summer in the U.S. by Image Entertainment.
