Lorne Balfe is scoring DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Home. The movie is directed by Tim Johnson (Antz, Over the Hedge) and features the voices of Jim Parsons, Steve Martin, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez. The film is based on Adam Rex’s book The True Meaning of Smekday and centers on a friendly alien race that invades Earth and begins to efficiently reorganize the planet. Tom J. Astle & Matt Ember (Get Smart, Epic) have written the screenplay. Chris Jenkins (Surf’s Up) & Suzanne Buirgy (Kung Fu Panda 2) are producing the project. As previously reported, the movie will also feature original songs performed by Rihanna. Balfe has previously scored the short Almost Home featuring the characters from the film. The composer has also co-scored DWA’s Megamind with Hans Zimmer and composed the music for the studio’s latest animated feature Penguins of Madagascar. Home is set to be released on March 27, 2015 by 20th Century Fox.
