John Debney has signed on to score the upcoming thriller Broken Horses. The film is directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and stars Anton Yelchin, Chris Marquette, Vincent D’Onofrio, Thomas Jane, Sean Patrick Flanery and Maria Valverde. The movie is set in the shadows of the US-Mexico border gang wars and has been described as a thriller about the bonds of brotherhood, the laws of loyalty, and the futility of violence. The film marks the first English-language film of Chopra who has previously helmed the box office hit 3 Idiots. The Indian director has co-written the screenplay with Abhijat Joshi (Eklavya – The Royal Guard) and is also producing Broken Horses with Subhash Dhar and David Hoberman & Todd Lieberman for Mandeville Films. No word yet on a release date.
Debney’s most recent film The Call starring Halle Berry is currently playing in theaters. The composer has also scored the biopic jOBS starring Ashton Kutcher, which is expected to be released later this year. Also coming up for Debney is the drama Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt produced by Chris Columbus.
