MI6 – The World of James Bond is reporting that Thomas Newman will be scoring the newest James Bond movie Skyfall. Film Music Reporter has learned at the end of last year that Newman had been attached to the film for several months, but it appeared that he was not officially signed on yet at that point. The film is directed by Sam Mendes who worked with Newman on four of his five feature projects, including American Beauty and Road to Perdition. The previous five James Bond films have been scored by David Arnold. Skyfall stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Ben Whishaw. In the film, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. The screenplay is written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace) and John Logan (The Last Samurai, Rango). Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are producing the 23rd Bond movie. No word yet on who will be writing and performing the title song. Skyfall is currently in production and will be released on October 26, 2012 in the UK and Ireland and on November 9 in the US by Sony Pictures.
