Only one movie is opening wide this weekend:

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides directed by Rob Marshall and starring Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Penelope Cruzis is the fourth entry in the adventure series. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer featuring Rodrigo y Gabriela. A soundtrack album including selections from the score, as well as number of remixes has been released on Tuesday by Walt Disney Records. Visit our previous article for the full track list and audio clips. Film Music Magazine has published a lengthy audio interview with Zimmer talking about his work on the film. Also check out a short video interview with Zimmer that we posted earlier this month.

Opening in limited release today is Woody Allen’s comedy Midnight in Paris starring Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, Carla Bruni, Marion Cottilard and Michael Sheen. As most movies by the director, the film doesn’t have an original score, but features several songs. No soundtrack album has been announced yet for the movie, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week.

Also opening in limited release is the indie crime drama Cost of a Soul. The film is directed by Sean Kirkpatrick and tells the story of two veterans who return home from Iraq to the war-zone of their own slum neighborhood. Their lives collide as their own families become entangled in a web of crime and corruption. The movie’s score is composed by Rodney Whittenberg. Finally, the drama Bloodworth is also opening in select cities. The film is directed by Shane Dax Taylor and stars Kris Kristofferson, Dwight Yoakam, Val Kilmer, Frances Conroy and Hilary Duff. The music for the movie is composed by Patrick Warren and Randy Scruggs and produced by Academy Award-winning songwriter T Bone Burnett. The production also features a song from Kris Kristofferson. No soundtrack has been released. To watch the trailer and learn more about the project, visit the official movie website.
