David Sardy (Zombieland, End of Watch, 21, Bright, Premium Rush, Monster Trucks, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) is making his television scoring debut on the new AMC original series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The show is developed by David Zabel (ER, Stumptown) and stars Norman Reedus in the title role, alongside Clémence Poésy, Adam Nagaitis, Eriq Ebouaney, Anne Charrier, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi. The fifth The Walking Dead spin-off follows Daryl as he washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and tracks his journey across the country as he hopes to find a way back home. Netflix Music will release a new soundtrack album for the streamer’s original series Virgin River. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s fifth season composed by Jeff Garber (Nancy Drew, The Company You Keep, No Sleep ‘Til Christmas). Also included is The Band Willa’s cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Songbird. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 7 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Lakeshore Records has previously released a first soundtrack album featuring Garber’s music from the first couple of seasons. Virgin River is developed by Sue Tenney based on Robyn Carr’s novels of the same title and stars Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Colin Lawrence, Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, Lauren Hammersley, Mark Ghanimé, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen, Kai Bradbury, Benjamin Hollingsworth and Marco Grazzini. Composer Alex Weston is reteaming with director Lulu Wang on the upcoming Amazon limited series Expats. The show is written and directed by Wang and stars Nicole Kidman, Brian Tee, Sarayu Blue, Jack Huston, Ruby Ruiz, Ji-young Yoo, Amelyn Pardenilla, Bonde Sham, Flora Chan and Maggie Lee. The 6-part drama is based on Janice Y.K. Lee’s bestselling novel The Expatriates and follows an American family who have moved to Hong Kong and established a community of fellow expatriates, which is fractured after a sudden family tragedy impacts their intersecting lives. The 2-track single includes the tracks Everybody’s Groot & Groot Winter Bossa Nova written by the show’s composer Daniele Luppi (Magic CityAssassination of a High School PresidentHell Ride) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. The film is written and directed by Ole Bornedal (The Possession, I Am Dina) and stars Fanny Bornedal, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Kim Bodnia. The sequel to Bornedal’s original 1994 hit movie (scored by Joachim Holbek) follows a young student who has taken the job as the night watch in a forensic department and tries to investigate the dark past of her parents. Record producers and songwriters Nate Wonder & Roman GianArthur have composed the original score for the upcoming Netflix original documentary Stamped from the Beginning. The film directed by Roger Ross Williams (Life, Animated, The Apollo, Cassandro) is inspired by Ibram X. Kendi’s book of the same title and explores the history of anti-Black ideas in a way that helps us grapple with present-day racism. The film is directed by David Gordon Green (Halloween, Pineapple Express) and stars Leslie Odom, Jr., Ann Dowd, Norbert Leo Butz, Jennifer Nettles, Olivia Marcum, Lidya Jewett, as well as Ellen Burstyn who is reprising her role as Chris MacNeil from William Friedkin’s Academy Award-wining original 1973 original movie. The sequel follows a father who – after his daughter and her friend disappear in the woods, only to return three days later – has to confront the nadir of evil to find out what happened to them.
