Mark Isham (Crash, A River Runs Through It, Miracle, Once Upon a Time, Warrior, The Accountant, Judas and the Black Messiah) has composed the original score for the upcoming biographical drama Shooting Stars. The film is directed by Chris Robinson (Beats) and stars Marquis “Mookie” Cook, Caleb McLaughlin, Avery S. Wills, Khalil Everage, Sterling “Scoot” Henderson and Dermot Mulroney. The movie is based on the book by LeBron James and Pulitzer Prize winner Buzz Bissinger (Friday Night Lights) and tells the origin story of a basketball superhero, revealing how LeBron James and his childhood friends become the #1 high school team in the country, launching James’s career as a four-time NBA Champion, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. Frank E. Flowers and Tony Rettenmaier (Space Jam: A New Legacy) & Juel Taylor (Creed II) wrote the screenplay. James is also producing the Universal Pictures production with Rachel Winter (Dallas Buyers Club), Spencer Beighley, Maverick Carter (Space Jam: A New Legacy, Hustle), Jamal Henderson (The Shop) and Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street). Shooting Stars will premiere on June 2, 2023 on Peacock.
Isham has also recently scored the latest season of MGM+’s Godfather of Harlem, which just finished finished its third season run earlier this month.
